Originally designed by Nanna Ditzel in 1965, Hallingdal 65 is an exceptionally durable upholstery fabric that features a harmonious blend of wool and viscose, both dyed before spinning to accentuate their texture. The wool contributes superior durability and flexibility, while the viscose enhances the colour with brilliance and depth.
The blend of wool and viscose gives this a subtle texture that feels both sturdy and refined. After reupholstering two chairs, I'm already impressed with how it resists pilling. Exactly the durable, classic look I was after.
I was a bit skeptical about a fabric from the 60s being tough enough for my kids' playroom, but this weave has held up to spills and daily wear without any pilling. The subtle texture from the dyed-before-spinning process gives it a rich, almost heathered look that hides dirt better than I expected.
The wool-viscose blend feels beautifully textured yet soft against the skin, and the pre-dyed fibers give it a rich, even color that really pops on my sofa.
