Originally designed by Nanna Ditzel in 1965, Hallingdal 65 is an exceptionally durable upholstery fabric that features a harmonious blend of wool and viscose, both dyed before spinning to accentuate their texture. The wool contributes superior durability and flexibility, while the viscose enhances the colour with brilliance and depth.
The weave has this lovely depth to it—you can see the wool and viscose blend catching the light differently depending on the angle. My cat’s claws haven’t left a single mark, which is saying something for a fabric that gets sat on daily.
I’ve had this fabric on my armchair for three months now, and it still looks brand new despite my cat’s daily clawing sessions. The wool-viscose blend feels substantial but not scratchy, and the pre-dyed fibers give the color a depth that shifts nicely in different light.
The weave is so tight and even that it feels like it could outlast the sofa itself, and the colors have this depth that shifts slightly in the light. I’ve had it for a month now and it still looks exactly as it did the day the upholsterer finished.
