A lacquered finish enhances the characteristics of solid oak, bringing out the depth and warmth of the wood with its smooth, lustrous surface, while helping to repel moisture and dust to contribute to the longevity of the furniture.
The lacquer really lets the oak grain pop on my Harbour chair in a way raw wood never did, and it has this smooth, almost satiny feel to the touch. Even after a few weeks of daily use, the surface hasn't dulled or marked up, which is exactly what I wanted for a piece that sees a lot of action.
Used it on the cabinet doors and the finish went on smooth without any brush marks, which is exactly what I needed for a piece I'd been sanding for weeks. The grain pops nicely under the lacquer, though I did need two coats to get the depth I wanted.
