Designed to neatly hold books in place, the abstract forms of the Converge Bookends are shaped from lava stone – a dark and porous material with a textured surface. Use as intended, one at either side of a line of books, or interlock together to create a sculpture that delights with its intriguing shape and touch.
These bookends are heavy enough that they don't budge even when I yank a book out from the middle of the row. The dark, porous surface gives them a nice raw, sculptural look that stands out on my shelf. Exactly the kind of functional art piece I was hoping for.
The lava stone texture is exactly what sold me—it’s rough to the touch but feels solid and grounding on my shelf. The abstract shape holds a leaning stack of hardcovers without a wobble, and the dark, porous finish hides dust well.
Each piece has its own subtle variations in the stone, which makes the pair feel like a small sculpture on the shelf. The weight and grip are solid enough that my heaviest hardcovers stay standing even when I shove a new one in.
